If you ever looked into trauma for some reason, you might have heard of Dr. Gabor Mate.

One of leading experts on Trauma Healing and Addiction. For many years I have been a fan of Dr. Mate consuming his lectures and books for my own healing and the tools I learned that I use in my daily life and my work.

A movie released in the Summer of 2021 under the title Wisdom of Trauma, featuring Dr. Mate and others, shed light on the recent understanding of trauma and how it plays an intricate and complex part in our lives.

The movie was both emotional and informative. A course by Dr. Mate was also offered, and I couldn't help myself. To study under one of the leading experts is a privilege not often available since Dr. Mate is now retired.

The course extended from the basics of understanding Trauma on the individual and its ripples within ones life and as a society. The course moved on into the science of trauma within the body and its consequences on the individual health and beyond.

Attachments and relationships were another area of depth, examining trauma and its effects within the family life and the relationships between individuals. Deconstructing emotions such as Guilt, Shame, Anger and Grief.

Amongst the different examples and cases studied in the course, it also reflected on somatic practices and self regulation. The concept of compassionate inquiry was also introduced as a method to approach working with individuals.

The least to say is that the course was rich and I have learned alot but what I would like more is to recommend you to read Dr. Mates books such as When The Body Says No, In The Realm of Hungry Ghosts, and my personal favourite Scattered Minds. I know you will enjoy them.
